Sales copy to promote SEO workshop

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been busy writing and rewriting the sales copy to promote my next SEO workshop in April. I probably had spent more than 100 man-hours on that sales copy.

No, I did not work alone otherwise it would still be unfinished. I’ve got numerous people to review and edit the copy. Still I was told it is not personal enough for a visitor to the website to want and register for the 2-day SEO training workshop.

Anyway, I realised I am far better in SEO than writing sales letter! I guess writing has never been my forte. I would probably hire a copywriter for my next sales letter. The fee for a copywriter at Rentacoder starts from US$0.10 per word, so 2,000 words sales letters will cost 200 bucks. I will like to spend the money next time and use my time for tasks that prove to be more productive for me and also save some time to write this blog.

During the 2 weeks of research for material and learning how to write killer sales copy, I have compiled some articles by Jo Han Mok. Here’s the gems of my research:

  • understand prospect’s needs, wants, desire, aspiration
  • aware of his pains, fears, frustration
  • solve his problem
  • list benefits… make his/her life better, more comfortable, worry-free
  • call to action
  • make a compelling offer

And the right tone and feel to gain your prospect’s trust.
