According to the stats from one of my blogs, people are using inSing.com as a search engine. I think this is good news for the inSing.com team and thumb up for choosing Google search engine technology. Yes, I am very tempted to compare inSing.com enhanced by Google search with SPH’s Rednano search but I do not have sufficient evidence to conduct a fair comparison.

Anyway, inSing.com was not intended to be a search engine, unlike Rednano which original intention was to “supplant the big names of Google and Yahoo as the prime tool for sourcing local information”.

What Are People Searching at inSing.com

My guess is people are using inSing.com to search for lifestyle related topics e.g. food, restaurant and shopping. You can take a look at Alexa Site Info on inSing.com to find out what keywords bring traffic to inSing.com.

For my blog to get a referral from inSing.com, I postulated that inSing.com had to have lots of people visiting its voluminous pages in order to capture even 1 visitor trying to search for reebonz at inSing.com.

The point is… some people are using inSing.com as a search engine!

Because my blog ranked among the top few listings in Google, it is also being displayed in inSing.com search and in turn brings visitors to my site.

The second point is that a properly SEO‘ed web page gets traffic not only from Google search but also from portals like inSing.com which implemented enhanced by Google search results.

Why inSing.com Criticism?

From Alexa’s Site Info, you will see that one of the top 20 search terms to inSing.com was insing.com criticism!

It really puzzled me that people are searching for “insing.com criticism”.

Does anyone really cares if there were negative comments on inSing.com or is it that someone trying to monitor inSing.com online reputation?

So what’s your take on inSing.com search? Please leave your comment below.

The mega consumer electronic show COMEX 2009 is more than 6 weeks away and people are already googling for comex 2009 and “when is COMEX 2009 Singapore“. I had been monitoring search traffic for major consumer electronics shows in Singapore since 2007.

Usually, my blog gets traffic for the IT Show, PC Show, COMEX and SITEX about 3 to 4 weeks prior to the events. However, for this coming COMEX 2009 show, the visitor numbers are already increasing steadily since early this month.

What Keywords to Optimize?

The keyword to optimize for is quite obvious, isn’t it?

One should optimize for COMEX, right?

Wrong!

From my keyword research, the top 2 most popular search terms among people who are looking for information on COMEX are:

comex singapore

comex singapore 2009

If you are trying to drive traffic to your website for COMEX related search terms, you may also want to optimize for comex 2009 jobs. Usually, there are many young people looking for temp jobs at these consumer electronic fairs. And this traffic comes earlier than those looking for a bargain buy.

Looking for Temp Jobs at the COMEX 2009?

In fact, now is the time to advertise to hire your COMEX promoters.

Hardwarezone.com and VR_Zone.com are 2 of the most popular forums where young people go look for promoter jobs at these mega consumer electronics shows. You can post your temp jobs wanted ad these forums for free.

Will COMEX 2009 be the Biggest Ever?

With all these early traffic, does it mean COMEX 2009 is going to be the biggest ever in terms of sale volume? Now that we are technically out of recession, I hope not only Singaporeans swamp to the COMEX Show to hunt for bargain buy but also tourists from the region will come and shop at the COMEX 2009 from 10 to 13 September 2009, Suntec City, Singapore.

Samsung Omnia, the smartphone that was launched in mid 2008 to compete against Apple iPhone 3G, has been one of the best alternative options for those who want a touch-screen smartphone that can record video and forward text messages with ease.

It has been about 9 months since I wrote that article on Samsung Omnia at my Wassup blog. It was selected and showcased in the Samsung Omnia contest. However, it was not good enough to win the Omnia phone prize. But good enough for me to use the analytics to study the search trends on Omnia related search terms.

Google Trends on Samsung Omnia

The search trends start in June 2008 and Singapore is the number 1 region where you got the most people search for “omnia” and “samsung omnia” related phrases. The rest of the top 10 are European countries (except for South African). No USA? Maybe Samsung did not launch the phone in the USA or used a different name.

Competing against iPhone and no one searched for “omnia” in the USA?!

Google Analytics on Samsung Omnia

However, my Google Analytics data on my Wassup blog tells a different story.

People in Singapore are losing interest in the Omnia after about 2 months! The amount of searches peaked in mid-August.

Meanwhile, as Samsung launched the Omnia in the rest of world, the searches outside Singapore increased. In fact, I am getting about the same number of searches from Singapore and USA recently.

It is apparent that the Omnia is losing its appeal and coming the end of its product cycle. So, what’s next?

Samsung Omnia HD

I guess the Omnia has been a success for Samsung, otherwise there won’t be a sequel to the 9 months old Omnia original… the new OMNIAHD with HD video recording at 720p – Samsung Omnia HD.

Suddenly, I have the feeling that Samsung has been spying on my Omnia blog comments. The FAQs from Omnia owners were mainly on the video function or rather malfunction. Apparently, many people bought the Omnia because of the video – to watch video or to record video. The new Omnia HD being an amazing video camera 3G phone will appeal to these video loving consumers.

Yes. I should be doing a write-up on Omnia HD and collect more Google Trends data. Hopefully, the Omnia HD will be available in Singapore soon.

Some of these comments are:

“This book is detail oriented and presents a very methodical approach towards web development as a path of continuous improvement, continuous measurement, and cumulative advantage from focusing on the precise details that matter.”

“All of these issues are dealt with in detail – and I particularly liked the fact that he was prepared to repeat some of the techniques when they occurred in different contexts.”

“Outstanding and definitive–sufficiently inspiring to get me to do a long-postponed optimization of my website.”

So a fresh press release is way overdue. And here’s the first one for the year 2007.

The first and only “Diamond Contours Biomesosculpture” system available in Singapore was announced earlier today by Simply Aesthetic Rejuvenation and Contouring Clinic.

Both Google News and Yahoo News picked up the press release within minutes when it was officially publicized on Apr 13, 2007 EST about 8 hours ago.

I think Dr Cheng has done a good job with the very informative press release and at the same time introduced the range of aesthetic medicine treatment available at her Simply Aesthetic Clinic. Beside the clinic, Dr Cheng have a spa just next door, MediSpa which offers facial treatment, massage services and contouring therapy.

If you want a review on the Traffic Manuscript ebook, visit Gobala Krishnan blog. He had done an excellent job on the review.

And I agree with Gobala, the ebook got pretty bad english. Maybe Kelvin was speaking that way so the Japanese audience can understand him. But, like what Gobala pointed out, you are not buying the ebook to learn writing – you want to know how to generate huge amount of traffic at minimal cost. If you are new to web publishing, this ebook may not be 100% beneficial.

However, if you’ve already tried MFA, affiliate marketing, direct emailing and all those techniques that promised to made you a 5-figure income then you are ready for the secrets from Kelvin. Also, make sure you’ve got a couple of hours to read the ebook immediately after you purchased it. The information and techniques he mentioned are fresh and red hot, so you’ll want to implement them right away.

Click Traffic Manuscript (aff. link) to get the ebook now.

If you have other ways to make money with your blog, don’t use Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network or any other PPC programs. The most obvious reason is that you are giving away your traffic for that few cents. If your readers are aware of this Ads by Google program, you can hardly get clicks from them. Also, many tech-savvy visitors are just blind to such ads.

However, if you still want use Adsense, here’s what you can do to increase your revenue.

Tips to Increase Your Adsense Revenue

Here’s the 5 things you need to do to improve your CTR(click-through-rate) and CPC(cost-per-click):

Blend your Ads by Google with the rest of your content. Use the small square(200×200) or rectangle(180×150) ad formats. The newer 200 by 200 is my current favorite for inline ad. Alternatively, you can use the standard banner 468 by 60 in between paragraphs. Usually, you’ll get more relevant ads with inline placement of Google ads and better change of getting higher CPC ad.

Use Ad Link for your sidebar. Make the Ads by Google look like one of your sidebar menu or links. Aviod using the Skyscraper ad format here. However, you may try using the square or medium rectangle formats if your sidebar column is more than 250px wide.

Avoid using image ads. Usually, you’ll get lower CTR. Some publishers believe video ad pays better. However, you can only choose between text or image ads but cannot specify to display video only ads. So, even if the CPC may be higher, higher CTR for text ads may be more profitable eventually.

Niche topics usually have higher CPC ads. For example, I discover that “singapore web hosting” pays better than “web hosting”. You have better chance of making more money with a review on “canon eos 20d” than an overview of “digital cameras”.

Leaderboard ad format can be profitable when you placed it strategically – near the top, below the header banner and above your post entry. Alternatively, use the larger rectangle 336 by 280. This is an effective format and usually gives your higher CPC. This is suitable when you do not have a header banner. Place it above your post entry near the top left corner.

Bonus: Additional Adsense Tip for WordPress

There are a couple of WordPress plugins for you to organize and insert your Adsense javascript to your post. These are Adsense Deluxe and Adsense Injection.

If you are just want to add Adsense javascript at every of your post at random location, then Adsense Injection is what you’ll need. Otherwise, if you want more control on where to place the ad then use Adsense Deluxe.

I do not have Google Ads on every single post, and definitely not on the home page so Adsense Deluxe is my preferred choice.

Maybe you can call it Hit Exchange 2.0! The Web 2.0 version of the exchanging page view.

You log in to MyBlogLog, check who have been visiting your blogs. In return, you may visit their blogs or even leave a message. So for every 10 other blogs you visited, you will bound to get some curious click at your blog. And if you have a provocative avatar, you may get even more curious click. Your Alexa ranking will sure increase by leaps and bounce!

However, is this traffic considered as quality traffic? Are you getting targeted traffic?

I used MyBlogLog for just about a month and cannot really tell how good is this traffic. So I can only tell what I can track, Alexa ranking and Alexa statistics should be reliable, right. My Alexa ranking seems like it is going to the moon!

I still think MyBlogLog is a great service.

The question is… How can we prevent MyBlogLog becoming a hit exchange?

Ans: Yahoo has paid for it and … better do something about it!

I guess many of many people are still not convinced that one should start focusing on building targeted traffic from Singapore or optimizing web traffic to Singapore related websites.

Over the last two years, I have built numerous Singapore related websites over the last 2 years. I have been monitoring traffic to these websites. These are search engine optimized sites and also I have been updating and adding new content. Traffic is growing and there is an exponential growth from Singapore population since earlier this year. Web traffic optimization for Singapore related websites will be crucial in attracting buyers from not only Singapore but around the South East Asia region e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Camdodia, Vietnam and etc.

Two years ago, there are few Ads by Google that are targeted at Singapore visitors and they are cheap. Now, I am seeing an increase in the pay-per-click. In other words, more advertisers are coming in and pushing the cost of advertising to Singapore Internets users. That means your Adsense will potentially give you more revenue on your Singapore websites.

From my survey over the last 6 months, I found out that for every Singapore home that has a computer, 10 out of 10 children from the age of 10 use the Internet. They use the search engines to research on their homework and more so on their current fad e.g. Harry Porter, Neopet, Singapore Idol and etc.
