Thank you for reading my rant.

Learning SEO for free is learning the "hard" way. It's easier to pay an expert to get the right knowledge and avoid the many pitfalls.

Even if the "enlightened" web designer could not go back to an existing client to re-do the website, at least he can do a better job for the next client. The reality is that many web designers in this region do not think they need to make a website search engine friendly because the client did not ask for it.</description>

		<description>That's a good observation. Down here in Australia, I have come across some of that too.  The ones that need it the most - the developers like the ones you mention - probably think they can pick up the skill for free.

They have the dilemma that they cannot go back to a client and tell them that they have now learnt SEO and can improve their site, certainly not for free.</description>
